Do Your Part for Cotton!

Wondering how you can help cotton on October 7?
This brief video shows what you can do — and why it’s so important.

World Cotton Day belongs to everyone.

That’s why you do not need to organize a major conference or industry event to take part! Every October 7, people around the world celebrate cotton in ways that reflect their own communities, businesses, schools, farms, and organizations. Some activities are large and public; others are simple, local, or entirely online. What matters is helping people understand cotton’s importance and recognizing the people whose lives and livelihoods depend on it.

The World Cotton Day video above explains why the permanent theme is “Cotton for Good.” It is an invitation to celebrate everything cotton contributes — from employment, trade, and rural development to food, natural fibers, innovation, and sustainability — and to share those stories with others.

There is no single “right way” to celebrate on October 7. Choose something that fits your audience, your resources, and your part of the cotton and textile community.

Ways to Participate

  • Organize a World Cotton Day conference, seminar, webinar, or panel discussion.

  • Invite local media to tell a positive cotton story.
  • Translate and share World Cotton Day materials in your local language.
