World Cotton Day 2026: Latin America and the Caribbean

A special regional virtual celebration for Latin America and the Caribbean will be held on October 7, 2026, bringing together representatives from across the cotton value chain to mark World Cotton Day from a regional perspective. The event will be organized with support from the +Cotton Project, a South-South Cooperation initiative involving the Government of Brazil, through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, FAO, and seven Latin American countries.

Under the theme “Cotton for Good: Building Prosperity Through Trade, Transformation and Partnership,” the program will focus on the opportunities and challenges facing cotton in Latin America and the Caribbean, including production, trade, regional integration, industrial transformation, sustainability, traceability, and decent work.

The discussion will feature representatives from the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (ABRAPA), the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), FAO, and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The program will also include the testimony of an Argentine woman cotton producer through RAMA, the Argentine Network of Women Cotton Growers.

    Uzbekistan 2026 — Partners Conference

The eighth global World Cotton Day celebration organized by the international organizations that created the observance — FAO, IAEA, ICAC, ITC, UNCTAD, UNIDO, and WTO — will be held on October 7, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Under the theme “Cotton for Good: Building Prosperity Through Trade, Transformation and Partnership,” the event will bring together governments, international organizations, cotton and textile businesses, farmers, researchers, development partners, and other stakeholders from across the global value chain.

The full-day programme will explore how cotton can generate economic opportunity, strengthen rural communities, support sustainable development, and create shared prosperity. High-level discussions and expert-led sessions will examine the role of trade, innovation, value addition, investment, and international cooperation in building a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cotton and textile sector.

World Cotton Day also provides an opportunity to recognize the millions of people whose livelihoods depend on cotton and to demonstrate why this remarkable natural fibre should be regarded as a global public good.

The conference is free to attend, but registration is required. Participants may also register for a Technical Tour on October 8, featuring visits to cotton and textile facilities and a firsthand look at Uzbekistan’s rapidly developing value chain.
