World Cotton Day 2026: Latin America and the Caribbean
A special regional virtual celebration for Latin America and the Caribbean will be held on October 7, 2026, bringing together representatives from across the cotton value chain to mark World Cotton Day from a regional perspective. The event will be organized with support from the +Cotton Project, a South-South Cooperation initiative involving the Government of Brazil, through the Brazilian Cooperation Agency, FAO, and seven Latin American countries.
Under the theme “Cotton for Good: Building Prosperity Through Trade, Transformation and Partnership,” the program will focus on the opportunities and challenges facing cotton in Latin America and the Caribbean, including production, trade, regional integration, industrial transformation, sustainability, traceability, and decent work.
The discussion will feature representatives from the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (ABRAPA), the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), FAO, and the International Labour Organization (ILO). The program will also include the testimony of an Argentine woman cotton producer through RAMA, the Argentine Network of Women Cotton Growers.
The event will be held virtually via Zoom and is free with registration.
